LONDON, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yafan from China and Anna Blinkova from Russia reached the 3rd round by beating Ajla Tomljanovic from Croatia and Maria Sakkari from Greece 6-1, 6-4. Han Xinyun from China and Oksana Kalashnikova from Georgia were defeated by Monica Niculescu and Irina-Camelia Begu from Romania 3-6, 6-3, 0-6.
Wang Yafan took her first win at Wimbledon by beating Tereza Martincova from Czech Republic in 1st round. During her career, Wang, ranked as 57th in world rankings, has reached the second rounds of all Grand Slams.
Wang was beaten by Ninth-seeded Sloane Stephens from United States 0-6, 2-6 in the singles on Tuesday. And it was the first time Wang had the chance to face American star Stephens.
"Sloane Stephens' attack was strong and I played a little bit unsure of myself," Wang said.
In the 1st round, Han and Oksana Kalashnikova quarreled in the second set on grass court when they fell behind as 3-4. "It was the first time for us to be paired and I just didn't know the way she plays. We were lucky to reach the 2nd round," Han said.
Han told reporters that she planned to team up Wang Yafan, Zhu Lin from China or another foreign player. However, she failed to secure her desired partner for a variety of reasons. "At last, Oksana Kalashnikova came to me as a pair," Han said.
Thirteenth-seeded of ladies' doubles Duan Yingying and Zheng Saisai from China reached 3rd round at Wimbledon yesterday.
